T.G.I.F.

                                                  Thank God I'm Funny

I believe every person on earth has at least one gift. Some people have multiple gifts of course. My one gift is I'm funny. In fact, I am 3 of the funniest people I know. Having a sense of humor has helped me get thru some rough times. I hope you have a gift that helps you OR helps others in times of despair or need. Actually, I am fairly positive that you DO have such a gift. We all do. We just need to search a little for it sometimes, but sometime it is blatantly obvious. Mine is fairly obvious I think. So what is your gift? Search for it and use it and tell me about it, I want to know what YOU think your gift is. No need to be shy here, it is just a simple forum to express yourself. You can also tell me what you think someone else's gift is if you like (me excluded please, I have already told you my gift). Certainly don't be afraid to tell someone else what you think THEIR gift is!!

"Humor is a reminder that no matter how high the throne one sits on, one sits on one's bottom." ~Taki

"Humor results when society says you can't scratch certain things in public, but they itch in public." ~Tom Walsh

"Imagination was given to man to compensate him for what he is not; a sense of humor to console him for what he is." ~Francis Bacon

"If toast always lands butter-side down and a cat always lands on it's feet. Then what happens if you strap a piece of buttered toast to the back of a cat?" ~ Steven Wright
(Now don't try that at home please)

"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”
~ Albert Einstein

Ok, there are a million quotes on humor, so I will put it to rest. Now the work week is almost over, go out and explore YOUR gift, whatever that may be! Help someone else with YOUR gift. You were given your gift to share with others, I just pray you do. Have a beautiful weekend.

Friendship Thursday

I have decided to designate Thursday as Friendship Day. Every Thursday I am going to highlight a friend of mine that makes me laugh, inspires me, and basically just makes for a good friend. If you are not chosen, don't fret... it is because I have literally hundreds of friends! I am truly blessed! A friend is someone who will do just about anything for you if you ask them and you would do anything for them if they ask you... outside of dressing as a woman of course.

This week I am highlighting Danny Donuts! Some of you have heard me mention Danny. He is a kind, fun-loving, creative soul. He certainly makes me laugh. And he inspires me... if it wasn't for him, I would have never been a book publisher. We finally are self publishing are book about Brazilian Soccer... it is called Fields of Passion.. you can order it from
www.fieldsofpassion.net or go to Danny's website and see all the fun things he is doing and order it there... www.dannydonuts.com

If you are in Chicago, I highly recommend checking out Danny's website to see what he is up to and go see him perform if the opportunity arises.

Publishing the book stimulated my creative juices, which inspired this blog.. for better or worse :0).. So, THANKS Danny for inspiring, creating, being kind, making me laugh, and basically just for being a good friend!

Humps, What Humps?

Happy Hump Day! It is known as hump day because Wedsnesday is the middle day of the traditional work week. When Wedsnesday is over, we are OVER the hump and looking to the weekend. It got me to thinking about other humps in life. We all have and have had humps in our lives. Some are minor, like getting a flat tire. Some are major, like having a major illness such as cancer or even dealing with the death of a loved one. Every single person on earth has had some sort of hump(s) in their life, some more than others of course.

There are some good humps in life. Camels have humps to help them carry water for long journeys. Speed humps slow drivers down so children don't get hurt.
Even grizzlies have humps. Not sure what they are good for, but maybe to store fat for the winter?
Ok, I looked it up. Humps on grizzlies are extra muscles that help them to dig. :0)

Dr. Frederick Frankenstein to Igor "You know, I am a rather brilliant surgeon. Perhaps I can help you with that hump?"
Igor's reply "What hump?"

Point is, not all humps are bad and even some perceived 'bad' humps are not necessarily bad, like Igor's hump. I have had humps in my road that have seemed bad at the time, but with some time and perspective a lot of my humps have actually been good because they have made me reevaluate my life or just turned me into a different direction that I would not have chosen otherwise.

That is not to say that some humps are not horrible or devastating. That is undeniable. Just give your humps some time and see what they mean and know that you are not the only one to have humps in your life!

Moms and Dads

Yesterday I wrote about my dad, today I think about my mom. She is in Ohio, I am in Utah. I travel for my job, so I haven't seen either parent a lot over the past 18 years, but I think of them often. I hope they know how much I love them and appreciate what they have done for me. They both have had their share of hard knocks in life, more than I would want to take on... yet they still found a way to love me and nurture me to the best of their ability.

I guess my mom made me a clown :0)

The point of today's blog is to say that you never know what another person has had to endure in their life or even in the past week. You don't have to be friends to everyone of course, but you can be kind to most people. Everyone has a story.

Dads and Moms

Welcome to my blog. I only start this blog because friends have encouraged me to do so. Hopefully my thoughts and words will inspire folks out there to enjoy life and be kind. Not too many people enjoy meanness, so why bother. I want to be enjoyed, not hated. I am guessing you do too.  yourdalyhug comes from the fact that my last name is Daly and I love hugs...And we ALL can use a daily hug in my opinion..  Daly is missing an i, but I will try to make this a da(i)ly post. Any and all comments are welcome as I take you on this journey.

That is why I call him dad.

Today's Daly hug starts with your parent(s). I am with my dad who is on borrowed time, but I will enjoy him today, all day! I recommend you enjoy your parent, spouse, friend today too! Truth be told, we are all on borrowed time, and none of us are promised tomorrow.
