Coco The Wonder Dog

Coco The Wonder Dog

Coco was a wonder dog in many ways. First of all, she made us wonder why we even adopted her in the first place. When we adopted her, she was over 13 years old and lived in Florida her whole life. After adopting her, we brought her to live in Wisconsin. Here she endured her first COLD and SNOWY winter. A little over a year later and she has broken our heart.

Even with the snow over her head, she enjoyed it!

It was a wonder she even survived a winter here after 13 years in Florida. She actually seemed to thrive in it, and that was a wonder also! Like a kid who had never seen snow in their life, but loved it. That was how she appeared last winter. The novelty had worn off by this Fall though, as she shivered during the October snow.

For a dog who grew up in Florida with an elderly owner, it was a wonder that she loved hiking as much as we did. She got to enjoy many of the Ice Age Trails in our area and even a trip to Michigan for a hike.

She was so funny when she "hopped" through the grass.

Just look at that smile :0)!

It was a wonder how much she wiggled her way into our hearts. We considered ourselves "large dog" people. Well, she was small in stature, but certainly large in personality. She would give you a snub one minute and and then snuggle in your arms the next. She was truly a wonder to behold. Today, after several weeks of decline, we decided to put her down and let her cross the Rainbow Bridge. We are hoping she has met Joey and Truman by now. She can certainly hang with the big dogs from our experience with her, and that might be the biggest wonder of them all! RIP dear friend! We sure did enjoy your WONDERful stay!

Now go out and Hug a 4 Legged Friend Today!!!

  6. Beautiful, Chip! Thanks for sharing. I think Coco serves as yet another confirmation for my idea about changing the electoral system: forget voting. The candidates gather on one end of stage, a varied group of dogs (of different colors, religious and political beliefs) on the other end. Each candidate has 5 minutes to use voice and body language to summon the maximum number of dogs to him. The candidate that gathers the most dogs and licks wins! Any candidate who gets no dogs or gets barked at is barred from politics for life! We'll call it "Canine Caucusing" or "Doggies Decide" or "Mutt Mandate"...Let's get that constitutional amendment going! In the meantime, COCO RIP!

    1. Thanks Justin! Oh my, you have the best ideas! I would sign that amendment in a second. Dogs know good people from bad people, and I only want good people running our country. Thanks for the laugh this morning. I needed that!

  7. Coco's last year seems magical. She found new people to love, new places and critters to sniff, (I bet she never saw a chipmunk before), people who were willing to let her get back into physical shape by walking. And snow! Yes, they had to be trained a bit, but they caught on. Their hands and voices were soft, soothing; their laps welcoming. And when it was Coco's time to go, they let her go, with those who loved her in attendance. When it is my turn, I should be so lucky.

    1. Thanks for the sweet words Dave. We felt so lucky to have Coco with us for a year. She made us laugh often, and that was so needed in these crazy times :0). I too hope I am lucky when it is my turn. I have Connie on my side, so I am pretty sure I will be as lucky as they come.
