406 Cirque... A Circus Center in Bozeman

Have you ever been to a circus center? Have you ever been to Bozeman? Now you can do both with just one visit. My dear friend Naomi and her husband Paul have opened up a circus center in Bozeman. They are coming up on their one-year anniversary and have already accomplished so much, with a lot more to do. I have not met Paul, but I imagine he is fabulous. I have known Naomi for over 20 years. I met her when she visited Russia as a teenager to volunteer at summer camp for Maria's Children. She has worked for Clowns Without Borders in the past. She has developed into an extraordinary clown/performer and is now passing on her knowledge as she teaching skills to others.

In the past 11 plus months 406 Cirque has provided 2,807 hours of circus instructions and conducted 105 performances. This next year they want to do even more, which is why they are having a 24-hour fundraiser. They want to use this fundraiser to celebrate their one year in existence as they try to increase access to the community.

If you think circus centers are just for kids, think again.

If you think circus centers are all about clowning, think again.

They are both of those things and so much more.

406 Cirque is a non-profit cultural center for movement and performance. It provides structure, instructions, and an environment to learn new skills as you work on body movement, among other things. It supports the community and works really hard on providing scholarships and free programs for the folks who may not have the means to do this otherwise.

For kids it is a place to come and explore movement, build confidence, work on teamwork, and learn a few skills in a fun, safe environment. As one of their students has proclaimed

                           "Circus is my happy place"

I don't see how you can argue with that. Let's see if we can help them to provide even more happiness to more children.

For adults, it is a place to find community and take some risks. Most adults I know like being part of a community and developing friendships along the way. Here they can do that.

406 Cirque likes to use the term contemporary circus. They incorporate circus + dance + theater + physical research in their teachings and performances. I imagine they put on some great shows, and I cannot wait to see one in the future when I visit my friends there.

I could go on and on about this fabulous place, but since I have not been there yet, I don't want to overdo it. I do know it is a great place because my friends do great things. You can read more about it on their website. From classes, to performances, to summer camp programs and more. Their header when you open their website should draw you in.
